THE EXCLUSIVE CARBON JACK

The jack is the pivotal link between the key and the hammer that controls the power and repetition of each keystroke. Made of carbon and polyacetal, our exclusive Carbon Jack is molded as a single piece using Kawai’s”Tapered Core” design for minimum weight, maximum directional strength and optimum responsiveness.

PHENOLIC STABILIZERS

The phenolic stabilizers positioned on both sides of the hammer shanks on Kawai GX-Series grand pianos provide greater directional strength and precision, allowing the hammers to deliver maximum energy to the strings for greater power.

NEOTEX KEY SURFACES

Kawai’s exclusive NEOTEX key surface material made of cellulose fiber offers the smooth, understated texture of natural ivory and ebony – and a semi-porous, silica-filled surface to absorb the hand’s natural oils and perspiration.

EXTENDED KEYSTICKS

The length of each key on Kawai’s GX Series grand pianos has been extended to make playing easier and provide more even response from the front to the back of the playing surface. Keysticks are also designed with a slightly taller profile for maximum rigidity to deliver greater power.

VERTICALLY LAMINATED TREBLE BRIDGE

The bridge performs the vital task of transferring the vibrations of the strings to the soundboard. Kawai’s GX bass bridges are made of the highest quality hard maple or beech. Treble bridges are vertically laminated with 13 layers of maple and mahogany for maximum strength and optimal transfer of sound energy.

THE CORE SYSTEM

CORE is an acronym that stands for “Convergence for Optimum Reflected Energy.” Convergence refers to the way the piano’s strength centers – the rim, plate and underside beams – all focus on one central point at the heart of the instrument.

Kawai’s GX BLAK Series fallboard is designed with a dual-damping mechanism so sensitive that it was dubbed “soft fall.” The ultra-slow closing system protects hands fingers and the piano’s finish from the harm that a jarring close might cause.

OVER-LAP INTEGRATED DESIGN

Kawai’s Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design (SOLID) creates an exceptionally rigid foundation to support string tension. With SOLID construction, the pinblock is fitted to the plate. The pinblock and over-lapping stretcher bar are then integrated into a single structure and solidly anchored to the rim.

CHEEK BLOCK SCREWS

Kawai believes that excellence is in the details. Even something as simple as a cheek block screw can be as important as every other part of a piano, which is why Kawai designed the most sturdy cheek block screw in the piano industry.

ANTI-WARP KEYSLIP

A piano’s “keyslip” is the long, horizontal piece of wood that covers the front faces of the keys. Kawai GX BLAK Series keyslips are reinforced with a steel inside liner that prevents warping or bending in any direction.

DUAL STEEL-REINFORCED KEYBED

A grand piano’s keybed is made of extremely strong, laminated hardwoods. Kawai reinforces each keybed with an underside steel support beam to provide additional strength and maximum stability.

HARDWOOD KEYBED DOWELS

The weight and pressure of a grand piano keyframe and action can dent a keybed over time, which is why Kawai inserts special hardwood dowels under each keyframe glide. It’s just another small but important example of Kawai’s commitment to quality and high performance.
