“Don’t buy a piano with plastic parts!”

“Plastic is so cheap, you’ll have to replace it every year.”

“Using plastic destroys a piano’s tone.”

“Stay away from plastic, it disintegrates.”

“They just use plastic to save money.”

Although these criticisms had no basis in fact, they were used aggressively to confuse piano consumers and obscure the truth about ABS.  But as competitive opposition increased, so did the credible body of evidence supporting Kawai’s use of ABS Styran.
