Rancho Dominguez, CA • January, 2010 – Miriam Pico, a former winner of Kawai’s “Searching For A Star” CD contest, recently released a new CD titled “S’bout Time”. Recorded live in the studio with pianist David Chown, the CD features Ms. Pico’s original song “So in Love”, along with a number of timeless jazz standards and pop songs.
“Miriam’s great voice and control of it came through loud and clear on the CD she submitted for the contest” states Tom Love, Kawai’s Sr. Manager for Electronics. Ms. Pico won for Best Vocal Performance in the Adult Category in the 1997 Searching For A Star contest.
In Kawai’s SFAS contest, pianists and vocalists from across the United States visited their local Kawai dealer and recorded a CD using either a Concert Performer digital piano or a PR-1 Piano Recorder, both of which feature a built-in CD-RW drive. Dealers selected local winners and submitted their CD’s to the national contest. National winners were then named from hundreds of local winners. Winners were named for the best piano and vocal performances in child, teen and adult categories. Each winner received a $1000.00 prize from Kawai.
