I bought a CA98 for my daughter and it was the best decision I have ever made. Kawai’s digitals are by far and away the best in the world.

It is an amazing piano built by KAWAI and I am very happy that I own one.

I’ve only been playing piano for three years. In my younger years I played accordian and guitar for over 11 years with formal private lessons most of those years.. So I knew music. In 2016 I purchased a nice $1600 digital (I did not know Kawai existed). I was happy with it. Gradually I fell more in love with piano and began began lessons within 4 months of the purchase. , Over the past few years I have played on various acoustics, including a variety of grands and also digitals. In 2018 I began looking for a digital that would mimic a grand as closely as possible. Our home does not comfortably accommodate a grand. I played several grands and uprights and discovered Kawai. Wow! Both their grands and digitals. We had a budget (retired) but after playing, feeling and hearing the CA98 we (my wife was originally a skeptic) decided that there was the KAWAI CA98 and nothing else. We have a Florida home with high tapered ceilings. It is in the middle between the open dining room and living room – like a sound chamber. The word Magnificent under-describes the sound. We purchased the polished ebony which is stunning! In our opinion, and that of my instructors, it feels and sounds better than any upright regardless of price and brand and sounds and feels like a grand. And you can easily voice it to your preference and do not have to get it tuned. There are but a few grands that we think are comparable in sound. I play about 1.5 to 2 hours/day average and in my opinion, and my instructors, the feel between this and a grand cannot be discerned. (Bearing in mind that every grand feels a bit different.) When my instructors (husband-wife team of 40 years experience) visited us to try it out, she sat down and played. Her exclamations to her husband were: “This is unbelievable. You have to try this. I can’t believe it!” And more. As for me (the writer) I am not an expert but a normal consumer / piano affectionado. I researched for months and tried out several leading brands and models for comparison. I tried high priced grands as well as various priced name brand digitals. If you love the piano, you must try this!
Moreover, the support at KAWAIUS and the dealer was and is amazing. The piano operates flawlessly. I would call it perfect. If you have questions, Kawai my dealer go overboard to help you.
